If someone wanted to create a new social media platform today, the challenge is to make it different from what currently exists. This is the question that Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, and Evan Sharp, co-founder of Pinterest, sought to answer. They founded a new startup called West Co., whose goal is to create something that repairs the damage caused by social media over the past 15 years.

Tangle is currently limited to invited users only and is only available on iOS in the US. Tangle works by asking users what they intend to accomplish each day, then having them share their stories with friends and update them on related matters. All of this is done to create value for users based on their goals, not simply to gain engagement from people on the platform.

This concept may sound similar to other social media platforms, but Stone believes that starting with a different question yields different results for users. However, Tangle is not yet perfect and needs significant improvement before a wider release.
