The prestigious award was claimed by Zoubeir ElJlassi, a talented graphic designer and filmmaker from Tunisia, for his compelling short film titled “Lily.”
“Lily”: The Story of Silent Witnesses
“Lily” follows the life of a lonely archivist whose world is turned upside down after discovering a doll at the scene of a car accident. The film explores the profound theme that "objects are silent witnesses that hold our secrets," ultimately forcing the protagonist to confront the truth and choose the path of righteousness.
Out of over 3,500 entries worldwide, "Lily" stood out not just for its heart-wrenching narrative, but for its masterful integration of Google’s AI tools into a professional filmmaking workflow:
Google Veo (The Visual Heart): ElJlassi utilized Google’s most advanced video generation model to craft the film’s unique, moody aesthetic. Veo provided high-quality cinematic visuals while maintaining visual consistency—one of the biggest challenges in AI filmmaking—throughout the entire story.
Flow (Precision Movement): To ensure the characters conveyed genuine emotion, a tool called "Flow" was used to meticulously control scenes and movement styles. This allowed the AI to generate imagery that resonates with deep human empathy.
Gemini (The Creative Brain): From storyboarding to defining character looks, Gemini acted as the central intelligence for the entire production planning process.
Merging Emotion with Technology
The panel of judges, comprising experts from both the tech and film industries, noted that ElJlassi did more than just showcase what AI can do. He successfully seamlessly blended human emotion with cutting-edge technology, using AI as a tool for powerful, soul-stirring storytelling.
This victory signals a new chapter in cinema, where the only limit to storytelling is the creator's imagination.
