Copilot adds shopping via chat box and AI assistant system for merchants.
Microsoft has launched new capabilities for its AI assistant, Copilot, in online shopping and as a retail assistant.

The first capability is Copilot Checkout, which allows users to purchase items directly from supported partner websites through the Copilot chat box, without having to visit the seller's website. Currently, this feature is only available in the United States via Copilot.com, with initial e-commerce partners including PayPal, Shopify, and Stripe.

The second capability, for retailers, is Brand Agents, an AI assistant that can answer questions about brands and products in a store, as well as offer and close sales. It learns from all the product information the store has and displays summaries on Microsoft Clarity to provide in-depth insights into customer behavior from the agent's perspective.

Brand Agents is currently only supported by Shopify stores.
