Nine new emojis have been revealed and will be available later this year.
The Unicode Consortium has announced a draft of Emoji 18.0, which proposes nine new emojis and ten skin tone options for use with basic emojis. All are currently in the public comment phase before final approval.

Emoji 18.0 is expected to be available across various platforms starting in September 2026.

 

 

The nine proposed new emojis for Emoji 18.0 are:

  • Smiley face with squinting eyes
  • Leftward thumb sign
  • Rightward thumb sign
  • Monarch butterfly - added to the existing unspecified butterfly emoji
  • Pickle - currently includes cucumber
  • Lighthouse
  • Meteor - currently includes comet
  • Eraser
  • Net with a handle
