Symbiotic Security, a promising US-French cybersecurity startup, has successfully closed a $10 million Seed Round. The capital will be used to accelerate the development of its "Agentic Platform" a security solution specifically engineered to safeguard software in an era where code is increasingly written by Artificial Intelligence.

Securing the "AI-Copilot" Workflow

As tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT become staples in a developer's toolkit, the speed of software creation has skyrocketed. However, this shift introduces a new set of risks: AI-generated code often contains unintended vulnerabilities, outdated patterns, or complex bugs that traditional scanners struggle to detect.

Symbiotic Security aims to solve this by building an Agentic Security Platform. Key features include:

  • Real-Time Remediation: The platform works within the developer's existing workflow to scan and fix AI-suggested code instantly.

  • Ultra-Secure Assurance: Ensuring every line of code meets high-level security standards before it is deployed.

  • Elevated "Shift Left" Defense: By catching errors at the generation stage, Symbiotic moves the security perimeter directly to where the code is born.

A worrying finding is that research indicates developers using AI to write code tend to write "less secure" code but are "more confident" that it's correct. Symbiotic acts as a "double check," using AI to verify other AI.

The term "agentic" refers to a system that doesn't just provide alerts but can "make decisions" and "take action" independently. For example, it might offer readily available, fixed code options instead of sending lengthy vulnerability reports for humans to fix.

Being a US-French company gives Symbiotic an advantage in accessing both markets, particularly in Europe with its stringent EU AI Act, which demands systems that can verify AI functionality as correct and secure.

By 2026, it's projected that over 70% of new code will be generated or modified by AI. Therefore, security at the "code generation" level is not just an optional feature but a core component of global IT infrastructure.
