Google has officially upgraded its search experience, turning the static search results page into a dynamic, conversational hub. The latest update introduces two major enhancements designed to handle complex queries with unprecedented depth and fluidity.

1. Gemini 3: The New Global Standard

The most significant change is the integration of Gemini 3 as the default model for AI Overviews worldwide. As Google’s most advanced reasoning model to date, Gemini 3 brings a "thinking" capability to Search, allowing it to:

  • Understand Nuance: Better grasp the intent behind long, complex, or multi-part questions.

  • Agentic Reasoning: Use a "query fan-out" technique to perform multiple related searches simultaneously, synthesizing a single, cohesive response.

  • Factuality Boost: Minimize inaccuracies through improved cross-referencing of web sources in real-time.

2. Seamless Jump to "AI Mode"

Google is bridging the gap between a quick "Snapshot" and a deep "Conversation." Users can now transition from an AI Overview directly into a conversational AI Mode without losing context.

  • Maintain Context: Follow-up questions carry over the information from the previous overview, so you don't have to start over.

  • Fluid UI: On smartphones, users can simply tap a "Show More" or "Ask a follow-up" bar to enter a full-screen chat interface.

  • Interactive Tools: In AI Mode, Gemini 3 can dynamically generate custom layouts, such as comparison tables or interactive grids, tailored specifically to your request.

This update reflects Google's push to move away from "keywords" and towards "natural language" instead. The new system is designed to understand long and complex questions as if conversing with an expert.

Powered by Gemini 3, users can search using "videos" or "images" and then ask follow-up questions in AI Mode. For example, taking a picture of a withered plant and asking, "What disease is it, and what fertilizer should I use?" The AI ​​will analyze the image and provide care information.

This move is a direct response to OpenAI (SearchGPT) and Perplexity. Google leverages users' concerns about "accuracy" as a selling point by providing clear reference links alongside the AI's answers.

Although it's a new feature, Google designed it to blend seamlessly into everyday usage (Ambient AI). General users may not feel like they're talking to a bot, but rather that the search results are more "intuitive" and "complete" in a natural way.
