Instagram has stated that no data was leaked and the password reset request issue has been resolved.

Instagram has released statements on both X and Threads stating that all user accounts remain secure. They indicate that they have resolved the issue causing a large number of emails being sent to users requesting password resets and confirm that there has been no system breach.

Previously, there were reports of a data breach affecting approximately 17.5 million Instagram users, including usernames, email addresses, and other personal information. This is believed to have stemmed from an API vulnerability that occurred in 2024.

Instagram states that users can delete the password reset emails and apologizes for the confusion caused.
