Google Unifies its AI Identity Gemini Enterprise App and Agent Platform Explained.
Google has officially announced a major consolidation of its AI branding, unifying its Large Language Model (LLM) offerings under the Gemini Enterprise umbrella. This move simplifies what was previously a fragmented ecosystem, merging services that were once split between "Gemini Enterprise" and "Vertex AI"
The Two Pillars of the New "Gemini Enterprise"
1. Gemini Enterprise App (The User-Facing Interface)
Formerly known as Gemini Enterprise (and before that, Google Agentspace), this service is now rebranded as the Gemini Enterprise App. It empowers teams to build AI agents using the Agent Designer tool. Key highlights include:
Workflow Integration: Seamless connectivity with enterprise applications.
Human-in-the-Loop: Built-in controls to designate tasks that require human verification.
Advanced UI Interaction: The ability to generate complex, interactive UIs during chat sessions via A2UI, enabling a more dynamic AI experience.
2. Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (The Developer Infrastructure)
For services previously housed under Vertex AI (pay-as-you-go model, LLM APIs), the new home is the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (appearing as Agent Platform in the Google Cloud Console). This developer-focused hub includes:
Agent Studio: A powerful drag-and-drop interface for building AI agents visually.
Google ADK: The platform now generates code natively using the Google Agent Development Kit (ADK).
Enterprise Governance: Enhanced enterprise-grade controls for managing and scaling AI agents within a corporate environment.
Consolidating all service names into "Gemini Enterprise" aims to reduce brand friction for enterprise customers. Previously, customers were often confused about which tool to use for what. This consolidation allows Google to communicate more clearly: for general use, use the App; for developers building systems, use the Agent Platform.
The emphasis on "Agent" throughout Google's strategy reflects the shift of AI from "interactive chatbots" to "Agents that actually perform tasks" (Task Execution). The drag-and-drop tools like Agent Studio will make it much easier for non-tech organizations to build AI for document and system tasks.
The addition of A2UI (Advanced Adaptive UI) is a key turning point. We're used to AI responding with text, but the ability for AI to instantly generate interactive UIs (such as buttons, data entry forms, or summary graphics) will make the AI experience in enterprises more professional and practical.
