The AI Music Flood: Deezer Reveals 75,000 AI-Generated Songs Uploaded Daily

Deezer, the prominent music streaming platform, has unveiled a revealing set of statistics regarding the rise of AI-generated content on its service. In a move aimed at enhancing data transparency, the company confirmed that approximately 75,000 AI-generated tracks are uploaded to its platform every single day.

The Massive Gap: Volume vs. Engagement

These AI-generated tracks now account for 44% of all new daily uploads, totaling over 2 million AI songs per month. However, despite the staggering volume of content, listener engagement tells a very different story:

  • Minimal Streaming Share: AI-generated music accounts for only 1% to 3% of total platform streams.

  • The Fraud Factor: Deezer’s internal analysis suggests that a significant portion of these streams is driven by "streaming fraud" attempts to manipulate the platform’s payout systems rather than genuine listener interest.

Protecting Human Creativity

Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer, emphasizes that AI music is no longer a futuristic concept it is the new industry baseline. "AI-generated music is here to stay, as evidenced by the sheer volume of new uploads," says Lanternier. "Our priority is now collaboration with creators to establish safeguards that protect human artistry, ensure data transparency, and enforce fair play."

To combat the surge of low-quality or fraudulent content, Deezer is leveraging its proprietary detection technology, which acts as a filter to verify the authenticity of tracks before they reach the mainstream recommendation feeds.

The problem Deezer is facing is a clear example of what's called "streaming farms": groups of scammers who use AI to produce massive amounts of music (without any artistic effort) to get low view counts among thousands of songs, hoping to "collect revenue" from streaming royalties. Deezer's disclosure of these figures is a bold move, telling investors and artists that the platform is "cleaning out the house" to return space to human artists.

The statistic that AI-generated music is only listened to 1-3% is crucial proof that "listeners prefer human soul." Even though AI technology can create music with excellent sound quality, human "storytelling" and "emotional connection" remain what listeners are willing to pay for and spend their time on. This is an advantage that genuine artists should use to build a distinctive brand identity amidst the AI trend.

What Deezer is trying to push is "AI-Tagging." In the future, every song on the platform may need to clearly indicate whether it's "100% human-made" or "AI-assisted," so listeners can choose to support the artists they want without being deceived. This is the beginning of an era where... "Transparency is the new currency of the music industry."
