Ford has announced the F-150 Lightning EREV hybrid electric pickup truck.
Ford has announced a new electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle), a hybrid pickup that will replace the all-electric F-150 Lightning, which is officially ceasing production at the end of this year.

The highlight of the F-150 Lightning EREV is its extended driving range of 700 miles (compared to a maximum of 300 miles for the Platinum model of the all-electric Lightning), while still using the same electric motor as the original Lightning. Official design, release date, and pricing will be announced later.

This announcement doesn't mean Ford is abandoning all-electric pickup trucks entirely. Instead, a new, more affordable electric pickup truck (as previously announced for 2024) will be introduced – a midsize pickup developed on the new Universal EV Platform – with production beginning in 2027.
