Instagram limits the number of tags you can include in captions.

Instagram has announced a limit on the number of hashtags that can be used in captions, now capped at five for both regular posts and Reels.

Instagram explains that fewer tags will lead to more topic-specific content, benefiting both creators and viewers, and reducing irrelevant tag spamming.

The issue of de-emphasizing tags on social media has been raised repeatedly, especially in an era where algorithms can use AI to select content using other methods. Instagram has already gradually reduced the importance of tags; last year, they unfollowed tags they were interested in. Meanwhile, Elon Musk himself has even suggested that popular tagging platform X should stop using them altogether.
