  Ford has announced a new electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle), a hybrid pickup that will replace the all-electric F-150 Lightning, which is officially ceasing production at the end of this year. The highlight of the F-150 Lightning EREV is its extended driving range of 700 miles (compared to a maximum of 300 miles for the Platinum model of the all-electric Lightning), while still using the same electric motor as the original Lightning. Official design, release date, and pricing will be announced later.

  Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla , posted on X about the latest testing of its self-driving taxi service, stating that it has now reached a state where there is no driver behind the wheel. This announcement caused Tesla's stock price to surge to a new all-time high, closing at $475.31 per share. Tesla has been testing its autonomous taxi service since the beginning of the year, starting with a rollout to the general public in Austin, Texas, in June. Initially, a human operator was present only in emergency situations.

  GM has announced support for Apple Music streaming service in its Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicle brands, and has begun rolling out updates to select models. GM's Apple Music support is significant because the company recently announced it will discontinue support for CarPlay, which transmits data from iPhones to in-car screens, in order to switch to its own Android Automotive operating system. Therefore, supporting a widely used Apple service like Apple Music will reduce the obstacles for users migrating their systems.
