However, there is a silver lining: users have noted that their prompt history remains visible within Google’s "My Activity" dashboard on both mobile and web.

This suggests that the data itself has not been permanently deleted. Instead, the glitch appears to be a server-side loading error, where the application is temporarily unable to retrieve and display stored logs from Google's servers.

Google’s Response and Resolution

The Google One support team has acknowledged the issue and confirmed that a fix is currently underway. They have reassured users that this is a technical bug rather than a security breach. Similar "temporary amnesia" incidents occurred several times late last year; in those cases, chat histories were fully restored once Google finalized the server-side repairs.

If you urgently need to access lost chat data, going to myactivity.google.com and searching for the "Gemini" category will allow you to see previously typed prompts. While it may not show the entire conversation, it can help recover important information to some extent.

This problem highlights how frequent AI model updates (such as upgrading from Gemini 1.5 to 2.0 or integrating Gemini into Workspace) often lead to instability in connecting to older databases. Storing important data in an alternative format (such as Google Docs) remains recommended.
