NVIDIA Expands Open-Source Frontier at GTC 2026: Unveiling Nemotron 3 Ultra and Next-Gen Robotics Models

At GTC 2026, NVIDIA continues its aggressive push into the open-source AI landscape. Building on the success of Nemotron 3 Super, the company has unveiled an extensive suite of new models designed to broaden the capabilities of the Nemotron ecosystem across various industries, from software agents to humanoid robotics.

The Nemotron 3 Series: Powering the Next Wave of LLMs

NVIDIA’s new language and multimodal models are optimized for the latest Blackwell architecture, ensuring industry-leading performance:

  • Nemotron 3 Ultra: A "frontier-level" large model designed for complex coding tasks and autonomous AI agents. Notably, it supports the NVFP4 (4-bit Floating Point) precision on Blackwell chips, significantly boosting throughput and efficiency.

  • Nemotron 3 Omni: A native multimodal model capable of processing and understanding text, images, and audio simultaneously.

  • Nemotron 3 VoiceChat: A dedicated speech-to-speech model that accepts and outputs both text and audio, streamlining the development of conversational AI.

  • Nemotron Safety: A specialized suite for content moderation, designed to detect and filter inappropriate text and visual content.

Advancing Physical AI: Robotics and Autonomous Systems

NVIDIA also reinforced its leadership in "Physical AI" with specialized models for the real world:

  • NVIDIA Cosmos 3: A world-foundation model for 3D simulation, set for release soon.

  • NVIDIA Isaac GR00T N1.7: The latest iteration of the vision-language model for humanoid robots, now optimized for production-ready deployments.

  • NVIDIA Alpamayo 1.5: An advanced vision-control model specifically tuned for autonomous vehicle navigation.

All models are scheduled to be available on Hugging Face in the near future.

The Nemotron 3 Ultra's support for NVFP4 is a major turning point, allowing large models to run faster with significantly less memory. This enables mid-sized companies to run "frontier models" on their own servers without relying on massive cloud computing, directly challenging closed models like GPT-5 or Claude 4.

The N1.7 version of Isaac GR00T is no longer just a demo, but is tuned to be "production-ready," meaning industrial plants can immediately deploy this model in warehouse robots or production lines. This will accelerate the global growth of humanoid robots this year.

NVIDIA Cosmos 3 is a formidable competitor to OpenAI Sora in the industrial sector because it focuses on "physically accurate simulation" rather than just aesthetics. This allows researchers to train AI in virtual worlds before deploying it in the real world, significantly reducing engineering costs and risks.

The release of these models on Hugging Face demonstrates NVIDIA's goal of building an ecosystem where all developers can utilize their hardware (CUDA + Blackwell) through globally standardized software.
