Manus Desktop Arrives Transform Your PC into a Super Agent with My Computer.
Manus Unveils "My Computer": Bridging Cloud Intelligence with Local Execution via Manus Desktop

Manus, the AI agent platform known for its robust cloud capabilities, has announced a significant evolution with the launch of "My Computer." This new feature, powered by the Manus Desktop application, allows the AI to transcend its cloud-only roots and operate directly on a user’s local machine.

Local Power via CLI and File Intelligence

Manus Desktop operates through a Command Line Interface (CLI), granting the AI the ability to read, analyze, and modify local files, as well as execute third-party programs. Key use cases include:

  • Automated Asset Management: Users can command Manus to organize thousands of local images into categorized folders and rename them based on specific metadata.

  • Financial Workflow Automation: Accountants can automate the sorting and labeling of digital receipts within local directories, significantly reducing repetitive manual labor.

A New Era for Developers: High-Speed Local Prototyping

The application integrates seamlessly with existing local development environments, supporting tools such as Python, Node.js, and Xcode. To demonstrate this power, Manus showcased the creation of a Real-time Translation App for macOS, built from scratch in just 20 minutes.

GPU Sharing and Secure Execution

In a standout feature, Manus Desktop allows users to leverage their local GPU resources for remote tasks, ensuring maximum hardware utilization even when the user is away from their desk. Safety remains a priority; Manus is designed with a "Human-in-the-Loop" security model, where every local command requires explicit user approval before execution.

Manus Desktop is now available for download on both Windows and macOS.

The major trend is moving AI from the cloud to the "Edge" (the user's machine). Manus's direct access to local files addresses latency and privacy concerns because sensitive data doesn't need to be uploaded entirely to the cloud for processing.

Typical AI often doesn't know what files are on your machine, but with Manus Desktop, it becomes a "secretary who sees your desk." This allows it to answer very specific questions, such as "Summarize the contract I downloaded yesterday from my Downloads folder," something web-based AI can't do.

The feature that allows remote GPU tasking is a very clever strategy. Powerful computers are usually left idle when not in use. Turning them into private cloud nodes makes the hardware investment worthwhile for users.

Manus requires approval for every command, addressing concerns about AI hallucinations or accidental deletion of sensitive files—a security standard enterprise users will demand by 2026.
