Samsung Electronics Reports Record Q2 2026 Earnings as Memory Division Surges 471% on AI Boom

Samsung Electronics has officially released its full financial results for the second quarter of 2026 following its preliminary guidance earlier this month, posting all-time high performance across revenue and profit metrics. Total quarterly revenue reached 171.5 trillion won, representing a 130% year-over-year increase and a 28% surge compared to the previous quarter. Operating profit skyrocketed 1,814% year-over-year to 89.5 trillion won, while net profit stood at 71.6 trillion won.

The company's Memory Business served as the primary growth engine, generating 120.8 trillion won in revenue a massive 471% jump year-over-year. Driven by insatiable global demand for AI infrastructure alongside ongoing supply constraints, Samsung prioritized high-margin server memory production. On the technology roadmap, Samsung expanded manufacturing capacity for HBM4 memory and initiated customer sample shipments for its next-generation HBM4E modules to key client partners.

Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, Samsung projects sustained momentum in AI server demand, driven largely by the industry-wide deployment of autonomous Agentic AI systems. The company expects high-performance memory chips to remain in tight supply through at least 2027, effectively offsetting softer seasonal demand in consumer smartphone and PC markets.

Why does memory demand remain a bottleneck even as mobile and PC sales slow? The paradigm shift towards Agient AI—automations capable of continuous reasoning, multi-step operations, and complex decisions—requires a much larger context window and real-time parameters compared to basic chatbot questions. This architectural shift dramatically increases the base memory capacity required per server GPU node.

High-bandwidth memory (HBM) remains the most critical battleground in AI hardware. Samsung's emphasis on HBM4 advances and early customer testing of HBM4E demonstrates that memory manufacturers and giants are vying for a dominant market share alongside competitors like SK Hynix and Micron. Securing long-term supply agreements for next-generation HBM architectures ensures stable revenue through 2027.
