Broadcom Reports Stellar Q2 Fiscal 2026 Results Driven by 143% Surge in AI Semiconductor Revenue

Broadcom Inc. has officially reported its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, ended May 3, 2026. The technology giant delivered a blockbuster performance, capturing net revenue of $22,187 million, which marks a substantial 48% increase compared to the same period last year. On a GAAP basis, the company secured a robust net income of $9,310 million.

The quarter’s growth was heavily spearheaded by Broadcom’s core hardware division. Revenue from its Semiconductor Solutions segment skyrocketed by 79% year-over-year to reach $15,009 million. Meanwhile, its Infrastructure Software segment which heavily incorporates the newly integrated VMware operations maintained a steady upward trajectory, growing 9% to post $7,178 million in revenue.

Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan emphasized that the relentless demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure has pushed the company's operational performance to historic highs, achieving record-setting revenue, operating profits, and free cash flows. Looking strictly at Broadcom's dedicated AI portfolios, revenue surged by an exponential 143% year-over-year to hit $10.8 billion. This massive influx was driven by aggressive hyper-scaler adoption of both custom AI accelerators (XPUs) and high-speed AI networking chips. According to Tan, this explosive momentum shows no signs of slowing down; Broadcom projects its dedicated AI semiconductor revenue to surge by over 200% year-over-year in the current third fiscal quarter, reaching an estimated $16.0 billion.

According to this earnings report, CEO Hock Tan revealed that bookings for AI semiconductor chips exceeded $30 billion in the past quarter, nearly three times the actual value of goods shipped this quarter ($10.8 billion). This provides Broadcom with guaranteed orders extending until 2028 from its major hyperscalers and large-scale programming language (LLM) developers.

Broadcom's revenue reflects its status as an indispensable player in the AI era, alongside Nvidia. Instead of directly competing in graphics card manufacturing, the company focuses on producing custom AI accelerators for giants like Google (TPU), Meta, and four other leading clients. It also dominates the market for network chips that connect computer clusters, with network chips accounting for almost 40% of its total AI revenue this quarter.
