Ubisoft Names Massive Entertainment as Creative House 2 to Lead Tom Clancy Franchises Under Christoph Hartmann

Ubisoft Entertainment SA has officially announced the identity and corporate structure of its second specialized development studio under its newly implemented Creative House organizational model. Operating as Creative House 2, Sweden-founded Massive Entertainment has been designated as Ubisoft's primary tactical shooter and competitive action powerhouse, consolidating iconic Tom Clancy intellectual properties under unified executive leadership.

Franchise Restructuring, Multi-City Studio Network, and Executive Leadership

The restructuring reorganizes Ubisoft’s global development talent into focused, genre-specific production centers designed to accelerate game development pipelines:

  • Creative House Framework Context:

    • Ubisoft’s decentralized model divides its global development ecosystem into five distinct "Creative Houses," each dedicated to specific gaming genres and core intellectual properties.

    • Creative House 1 (Vantage Studios): Oversees flagship open-world and blockbuster narrative franchises, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.

    • Creative House 2 (Massive Entertainment): Focuses primarily on tactical shooters, persistent online worlds, and competitive multiplayer titles.

  • Tom Clancy Franchise Consolidation:

    • Massive Entertainment originally famous for developing Tom Clancy’s The Division series will now absorb and direct development across all major Tom Clancy shooter properties except Rainbow Six.

    • Ghost Recon: Transferred from Ubisoft Paris into the Creative House 2 structure.

    • Splinter Cell: Transferred from Ubisoft Toronto into the new studio framework.

  • Integration of Amazon Games Montreal & March of Giants:

    • Massive Entertainment will incorporate the former Amazon Games Montreal studio, which Ubisoft acquired in late 2025.

    • The Montreal team brings an unannounced competitive multiplayer franchise titled March of Giants, described as a 4v4 action MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) designed for global esports competition.

  • Global Four-City Studio Footprint:

    • The newly expanded Massive Entertainment operates across four major international production hubs: Montréal, Paris, Malmö (Sweden), and Toronto.

  • Executive Leadership Appointment:

    • Christoph Hartmann has been appointed as General Manager of Creative House 2.

    • Hartmann brings extensive industry leadership experience as the former co-founder of 2K Games (a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive), where he played a key operational role in scaling early entries in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, as well as serving as a senior executive at Amazon Games.
