Alibaba Unveils T-Head Zhenwu V900 AI Accelerator, Supporting 500k-Chip Clusters and Trillion-Parameter Models

Alibaba Group has officially launched its next-generation artificial intelligence accelerator, the Zhenwu V900, engineered by its in-house semiconductor division, T-Head. The new processor is designed to handle both high-precision model training workloads and ultra-low-precision inference tasks, delivering exceptional computational speed while significantly optimizing overall data center energy efficiency.

Cluster Architecture, Adoption Scale, and Trillion-Parameter Training

The release marks a major advance in China's domestic semiconductor ecosystem, offering scalable compute infrastructure for frontier AI development:

  • Dual-Workload Compute Optimization: The Zhenwu V900 features a flexible architecture that supports full-precision operations required for complex model training, alongside low-precision quantization modes tailored for high-speed, energy-efficient inference execution at scale.

  • Hyperscale 500,000-Chip Clustering: Designed for massive multi-node scalability, up to 500,000 Zhenwu V900 accelerators can be interconnected within a unified cluster, providing the high-throughput fabric necessary to train complex, next-generation foundation models.

  • Widespread Enterprise Adoption: Alibaba confirmed that over 650 enterprise clients across diverse sectors including autonomous automotive manufacturers, cloud services, and leading AI development firms have already integrated the Zhenwu processor family into their core compute pipelines.

  • Trillion-Parameter Model Capabilities: Alibaba plans to leverage Zhenwu V900 infrastructure to train upcoming flagship foundation models featuring 5 to 10 trillion parameters, while providing accelerated processing for extremely long-context and multi-step reasoning workloads.
