System Feature Enhancements, Input Customization, and EOL Milestone
The KB5124010 preview update addresses persistent bugs while updating desktop customization and input standards:
File Explorer Optimizations: File Explorer now supports native previewing of downloaded HTML files directly within the preview pane. Additionally, the Home view now persistently retains section display states (expanded vs. collapsed) across system reboots.
Personalization & Copilot Key Remapping: Desktop background rendering stability has been improved alongside native support for DIB (Device-Independent Bitmap) image formats. Furthermore, users can now remap the hardware Copilot key to trigger alternative actions, such as restoring the legacy Context Menu key function.
Precision Touchpad Gestures & Emoji 17.0: Precision touchpads gain new single-finger scrolling and automatic continuous scrolling gestures. System emojis have also been updated to conform with the Emoji 17.0 specification.
Bluetooth & System Backup Bug Fixes: The patch resolves intermittent Bluetooth disconnects and accidental adapter toggling. It also resolves File History backup failures introduced in prior updates while officially deprecating legacy PC-to-PC migration tools in favor of Windows Backup.
End-of-Servicing Milestone for Windows 11 24H2: KB5124010 represents the final feature update for Windows 11 Version 24H2, which reaches its official end of support in October 2026. Servicing and security support for Windows 11 Version 25H2 will continue uninterrupted.
