TSMC Reports Record Q3 2026 Profit as 2nm Revenue Surges to 8%.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has officially released its complete third-quarter 2026 financial performance reports, building upon preliminary revenue figures disclosed last week. Total consolidated revenue surged to NT$1.49 trillion ($47.2 billion), marking a massive 50.9% year-over-year growth. Net income reached NT$763 billion, representing a dramatic 68.7% jump compared to the same period last year, while gross margin expanded to an exceptionally strong 66.4%.
Advanced Node Revenue Breakdown, Technology Mix, and Q4 Outlook
Accelerated Adoption of Leading-Edge Lithography Nodes:
2nm Node Ramp: Revenue generated from TSMC's cutting-edge 2-nanometer (2nm) GAA architecture accounted for 8% of total wafer revenue during Q3, up sharply from 3% in the preceding quarter as high-volume manufacturing expanded for next-generation mobile and AI processors.
3nm and 5nm Performance: The established 3nm process node generated 33% of total revenue, while the mature 5nm family contributed 28%, and the 7nm node accounted for 10%.
Advanced Technologies Dominance: Combined, TSMC's advanced nodes (defined as 7nm and smaller lithographies) represented 79% of total foundry sales, underscoring the company's near-monopolistic hold on high-performance compute silicon.
Fourth-Quarter Guidance and Operational Projections:
Projected Revenue Target: Management projects fourth-quarter consolidated revenue to land between $52.3 billion and $54.3 billion, backed by sustained hyperscaler demand for AI accelerators and seasonal flagship smartphone chip shipments.
Stable Margin Outlook: Gross margin for the final quarter is forecasted to remain exceptionally healthy between 65% and 67%, despite potential cost absorption associated with scaling global fabrication plants in Arizona and Kumamoto.
