ASML Posts €11.66B Q3 Revenue as AI Demand Drives Semiconductor Machine Shortages Through 2028.
ASML, the global leader in semiconductor photolithography equipment, has released its financial results for the third quarter of 2026. The Dutch tech giant posted net sales of €11.66 billion and saw net income rise to €4.96 billion, driven by robust worldwide demand for advanced chipmaking machinery. During the quarter, ASML delivered a total of 121 lithography systems, comprising 113 brand-new units and 8 refurbished units.
Geographic Revenue Distribution, AI Investment Drivers, and Supply Bottlenecks
Geographic Market Breakdown:
Taiwan Leading Shipments: Taiwan represented the largest share of ASML’s Q3 net sales at 32%, fueled primarily by leading-edge foundry expansions for advanced nodes.
South Korea Close Behind: South Korea accounted for 31% of revenue, driven by major memory chipmakers expanding high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and next-generation DRAM production lines.
Strong Demand from China: China remained a vital market for ASML, generating 23% of total revenue as domestic fabricators continued acquiring mainstream Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) lithography systems.
AI-Driven Demand and Long-Term Capacity Bottlenecks:
Accelerated Long-Term AI Investments: ASML Chief Executive Officer Christophe Fouquet highlighted that customer order momentum remains exceptionally strong, with semiconductor manufacturers ramping up capital expenditure targets through 2030 to support hyperscale AI infrastructure.
2027–2028 Supply Deficit Warning: Management acknowledged that projected machine delivery capacities for 2027 and 2028 will not be sufficient to fully satisfy surging customer demand.
30% Manufacturing Capacity Expansion Goal: To address the shortfall, ASML is working aggressively across its supply chain to expand manufacturing output, targeting at least a 30% increase in machine production capacity beyond current baseline estimates by 2028.
