Google Photos Update One-Tap AI Editing and New Video Speed Controls Arrive on Android.
Google has officially announced two highly requested features for the Google Photos app on Android, aiming to streamline the photo editing and video viewing experience for its users worldwide.
The Key Updates:
AI Enhance: A revolutionary one-tap editing button. This feature leverages advanced machine learning to instantly analyze and correct image colors, lighting, and contrast, delivering professional-grade results with a single click.
Variable Video Playback Speed: The built-in video player now includes a dedicated speed adjustment toggle. Users can now control playback from 0.25x (Slow Motion) for capturing fine details, up to 2x (Fast Forward) for quick previews.
According to Google, both features have begun rolling out globally and will be available to all Android users in the coming weeks.
This new AI Enhance feature isn't just about adjusting brightness; it brings technology from the Pixel family to other Android phones. The AI analyzes the "type of image" (e.g., portrait, landscape, or food) and adjusts the color tone to best suit the subject, reducing complex image editing steps to seconds.
0.25x: Ideal for users who analyze sports videos or need to capture perfectly timed screenshots.
2x: Perfect for the era of "short-form content," where people want to skip boring parts of videos sent by friends or quickly review long recorded videos.
It's anticipated that some advanced AI features may be linked to Google One membership benefits in the future, but for these two, Google is making them equally accessible to all users.
This update brings Google Photos on Android closer to the iOS and web versions, bridging the user experience gap regardless of the device used.
