However, Google Assistant will temporarily remain active on select hardware categories while Gemini integration undergoes further development:

• Cars with Google built-in (running native Android Automotive OS)

• Google Home smart speakers and displays

• Google TV smart TVs and streaming devices

Google confirmed that these remaining platforms are currently undergoing architectural updates to transition to Gemini in future software rollouts.

Why is this deprecation a fundamental paradigm shift? Traditional voice assistants like Google Assistant rely on fixed intent matching and inflexible keyword structures. Replacing Assistant with Gemini offers natural conversational reasoning, multi-faceted contextual understanding, and complex multi-step operations directly in mobile and wearable operating systems.
