AT & T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint announced the Mobile Authentication Taskforce set the standard for identity verification via a mobile device.

The goal of the group is to develop a system to verify your identity with a portable device that uses SMS instead (which NIST, the industry standard of the United States recommends discontinuing use) by the guidelines that will be used instead of a check the SIM card, the coordinates, the connection to the network.

Now, the group didn't work out (just announces group) by aiming to released in 2018.
