Google Brings Gemini Audio Live Voice Controls to Gmail, Docs, and Keep.
Google Rolls Out Live Voice Capabilities to Workspace Apps Powered by Gemini Audio

Following initial previews at Google I/O 2026, Google has officially launched its Live voice interaction features across key productivity applications within the Google Workspace ecosystem. Integrated directly into Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Keep, the new capability leverages Gemini Audio models to transform standard text-based workflows into conversational, voice-driven experiences.

Application-Specific Live Voice Capabilities

The Live update embeds specialized AI audio assistants into everyday productivity tasks:

  • Gmail Live: Users can issue natural voice queries to search through complex inbox threads, ask Gemini Audio to locate specific emails, summarize unread messages, or draft quick verbal responses hands-free.

  • Docs Live: Functions as an interactive, real-time voice co-creator. Writers can verbally brainstorm, outline document structures, request live research synthesis from external sources, or dictate rough drafts directly into the document canvas.

  • Keep Live: Acts as a conversational note-taker. Users can speak unorganized thoughts, lists, or meeting notes aloud, allowing Gemini to automatically process, format, and categorize the audio stream into structured, readable notes.

Subscription Tiers and Enterprise Availability

Access to Live voice features is structured across Google's tier-based subscription packages:

  • Gmail Live & Keep Live: Available to individual subscribers on Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans.

  • Docs Live: Restricted to higher-tier Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

  • Google Workspace Commercial Customers: Enterprise and business account rollouts are scheduled to begin in an upcoming deployment phase.
